Enthusiasts of the Hyundai Elantra can let out the collective breath they’ve been holding. Hyundai revealed specs and details on the 2017 Elantra Sport, and it’s the most powerful version of this popular compact sedan to date.

Under the hood, a 1.6 Turbo GDI four-cylinder engine capable of over 200 horsepower and over 190 lb.-ft. of torque will ensure a commanding, athletic driving experience. Drivers can opt for a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with paddle shifters depending on their preferred driving style. Drivers can expect a sporty, smooth drive quality, thanks in part to the independent multi-link rear suspension. The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport boasts a sleek, athletic exterior and interior design with touches that reflect its athletic nature, like sport seats with red contrast stitching.

“This is a vehicle that reflects our own passion for cars and driving, expressing it with sharp looks, proven in-car technology, upgraded power, and fun, sporty handling,” says Hyundai Motor America manager of product planning, Mike Evanoff.
